Input Media for Vinyl Production

Premaster

  • CD audio | CD-R in “disc at once mode”
  • WAV | AIFF data up to 24 bits / 192 kHz with md5 checksum or packed in a zip file
  • DDP data with check sum

Making a label copy available along with your premaster
Please note that, as a rule, a premaster cannot be processed without a label copy. The label copy contains the title, the number and sequence of the tracks. In addition, the side separation, speed (rpm) and processing requests need to be included. The name on the premaster should be identical to the name on the label copy, in order to prevent misunderstandings or queries. Our studio cannot begin working on your project without this required information. That’s why we ask you to always affix the label copy directly to the master, in order to prevent delays.

Master

  • Foil cuts, also referred to as lacquer cuts or lacquers
  • DMM cuts
  • Mothers

Playing Times
The following times are “reference values” in order not to exceed the limits of the medium. Taking into account a lower volume, which in turn reduces the signal-to noise ratio or losses of high end, it is possible to achieve longer playing times. Time limits are guidelines only. Specific evaluations based on audio material.

  • 12” up to 11:00 min in 45 rpm
  • 12” up to 18:00 min in 33 rpm
  • 10” up to 08:00 min in 45 rpm
  • 10” up to 13:00 min in 33 rpm
  • 7” up to 05:30 min in 45 rpm

Please note: We don’t recommend to cut in 33 rpm for 7inch records. Due to technical reasons this can lead to distortion and loss of heights when played on record players. Although 4:10 min is an ideal maximum length longer playing time is possible to be cut in 45 rpm and should be checked individually with the cutting engineer.
